The FINANCIAL — Mango was this week voted the coolest low cost airline by the Sunday Times Generation Next awards in the country.
The carrier ranked second behind parent SAA in the overall airline poll. Mango has been a consistent leader in the category over the past 8 years ahead of its low-cost peers. Late last year the airline was also awarded the Skytrax World Airline Awards Best African Low-Cost Airline and several ACSA Feather Awards for Customer Service Excellence, according to Mango.
“Recognition serves as inspiration to achieve consistent excellence,” says Mango spokesperson Hein Kaiser. “Mango is focused on a relentless pursuit of constant, never ending improvement and innovation. To this end our brand remains active across communities in South Africa, whether through our social media platforms, direct engagement with communities through our social development initiatives and our sustained focus on Guest Care and high service levels.” Mango remains the most accessible airline through its wide distribution channels and the most affordable on aggregate. The airline recently launched its fourth mobile app for Windows 8.1 devices; now covering all major operating platforms.
To date the airline has carried in excess of 13,5 million Guests across 7 domestic network points and between Johannesburg and Zanzibar. “Any brand is dependent on its customers and, Mango’s Guests are our partners in making our company great. Recognition such as being voted the coolest airline or, for that matter, any award is recognition of all Mango employees whose daily efforts are thus recognized.” Kaiser adds that while it is impossible to always get it right, Mango remains heavily focused on Guest Care.
