The FINANCIAL — The President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held a meeting with foreign media representatives, accredited in Georgia.
The President has mainly discussed the prospective visit of the Vice President of the United States of America, Mr. Mike Pence to Georgia, Georgia’s foreign relations and the Russian aggression, according to the Administration of the President of Georgia.
According to the President, this visit clearly shows the U.S. support of the Georgian nation and the state. As he further added, the U.S. Congress has adopted supportive declarations of Georgia, as well as the legislations which are strengthening Georgia’s non-recognition policy and supporting the country’s further development.
“This is an important support that we see from the U.S. We have been pleased with serious visits that we had from the beginning of this year from the U.S. political leaders and of course, the Vice President’s visit to Georgia is also a very significant milestone, showing our cooperation, showing our support and showing that Georgian men and women in uniform, together with the Armed Forces of the United States are standing together not only in international missions, but also on the Georgian soil. Training, equipping and improving of Georgia’s defensibility is a very important and intensive part of the U.S. agenda, so here I think we will have an opportunity to once more show the cooperation and unification of Georgia-U.S. And, of course, this is an integral part of Georgia’s further development, Georgia’s further democratic process and I believe that in this context, Georgia’s firm steps that we have declared in dimensions of the EU and the NATO, and integration processes that we have here will be even more supported by even more ambitious plans that Georgia will be declaring in the nearest future”, – stated the President.
The journalists have shown interest in the U.S.-Georgia and Russia-Georgia relations, the ongoing democratic processes in the country, the regional security environment, the visit of the President of Ukraine to Georgia and the citizenship of the third president of Georgia.
The meeting has been attended by the representatives of BBC, Reuters, Associated France Press (AFP), Anadolu Agency, Al Jazeera, Voice of America, Radio Liberty, RTVi and Starvision.
