The FINANCIAL — Credit Suisse has announced that top-ranking analyst Mariko Watanabe has joined its Japanese Equity Research Department as an analyst covering Japan's small and mid cap companies.
Ms. Watanabe joins Credit Suisse from UBS where she had been a senior analyst covering small companies since 2004. Prior to UBS, she worked as a small and mid cap sector analyst at HSBC, Dresdner Kleinwort Benson, BZW and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. Mr. Watanabe started her career at Kokusai Securities as an equity research analyst after graduating from Yokohama National University in 1991.
Ms. Watanabe is currently ranked number one among small and mid cap sector analysts in the Nikkei Veritas analyst survey and the Institutional Investor's all Japan research survey.
Today's appointment, which follows the hiring of Shinji Kuroda as machinery sector analyst and Takeshi Hasebe as Head of Japanese Equity Capital Markets earlier this year, reflects Credit Suisse's commitment to further strengthen its equity business in Japan.
