The FINANCIAL — McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport has announced an exciting first list of tenants as the designer outlet prepares for opening in early summer of 2015.
The centre will offer the most sought-after luxury, premium and lifestyle fashion brands with year-round savings of up to 70%. At launch this will include brands such as Armani, Hugo Boss and Calvin Klein. It will also feature some iconic Vancouver favourites such as lifestyle concept store Secret Location and Italian style Coffee House Café Artigiano. This will also be the first Lower Mainland location for several brands including Women’s active wear store Lolë and contemporary designer label Ports 1961. A list of brands that have completed leases to date is attached, and several more brands are in the process of completing leasing terms to be ready at opening or shortly after. The centre is expected to be approximately 70% leased at opening, which compares favourably with the opening of 20 other McArthurGlen Designer outlets across Europe, according to McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport.
“We are very happy with the way leasing has progressed and feel shoppers will be thrilled with the brand mix”, said Robert Thurlow, General Manager. “From Coach to Polo Ralph Lauren to Mountain Warehouse, there is really going to be an exciting mix of luxury, premium and lifestyle brands that will appeal to everyone at McArthurGlen Vancouver Airport”.
In a unique location (three minutes on the Canada Line from Vancouver International Airport/YVR, 10 minutes from downtown Richmond and 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver), the centre is bringing McArthurGlen’s sophisticated European style to Vancouver, and blending this with a style that reflects the local heritage paying tribute to several well-known Vancouver neighbourhoods. The designer outlet has been designed in an open-air village style, with pedestrian-friendly walkways, tree-lined streets, a dancing fountain, gentle landscaping, a luxury piazza and a variety of façades. Restaurants, cafes and open-air seating areas will complete the leisure experience, while a children’s playground and on-site entertainment will cater for all the family.
As the opening draws closer, the designer outlet centre will be hosting a second two-day Career Fair on Sunday, May 24th and Monday, May 25th. The career fair will be hosted at the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel and follows on last month’s successful career fair that was attended by over 1,600 applicants. The openings are for some of the world’s most iconic fashion brands, in roles including retail management, operations and sales for both full-time and part-time positions. 600 retail positions will be created for this first phase of development. A further 400 jobs are expected to be available in the second phase of development.
The open-format Career Fair will give candidates the chance to meet directly with multiple brand representatives. Applicants are encouraged to come prepared with copies of their resume and cover letter; no advanced appointments are necessary.
