Meeting with Representatives of Non-governmental Organizations and Associations Operating in Energy Sector

The FINANCIAL — First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia, the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Dimitry Kumsishvili and the Deputy Economy Minister, Giorgi Chikovani held a meeting with the representatives of non-governmental organizations and associations operating in the energy sector.

The Chairman of the Georgian Renewable Energy Association (GREA), Levan Vepkhvadze and the representatives of the development companies, as well as the representatives of such NGOs as the World Experience for Georgia (WEG), the Energy Efficiency Center Georgia and the Caucasus Environmental NGO Network (CENN) attended the meeting.

Ongoing and scheduled reforms in the energy sector, the required legislative amendments and environmental regulations in the field as well as the key energy projects were discussed during the meeting, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.

First Vice Prime Minister Dimitry Kumsishvili introduced the scheduled measures in the energy sector to the guests and talked about the ongoing and planned projects.

“Supporting private sector and non-governmental organizations as well as sharing their experiences is important for the future development of the sector. Economic progress as well as the development of the energy sector is closely dependent on the cooperation between the business and the Government” – Dimitry Kumsishvili stated.

Meeting of the same format will be held on a regular basis and the Ministry will deliver detailed information on the ongoing processes in the energy sector to the representatives of the associations and NGOs operating in the energy sector.
