The FINANCIAL — First meeting with the beneficiary companies of the state program Host in Georgia was held. The meeting was organized by the agency Enterprise Georgia of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development. Representatives of the Enterprise Georgia agency, National Tourism Administration and the Spatial Planning and Construction Policy Department of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia as well as the CENN and Municipal Development Fund attended the meeting.
The meeting aimed to identify the challenges and private sector needs in the sector. During the meeting, prospects of the further development of the hotel industry in the regions was discussed with the private sector. The aim of the Agency is to stimulate creation of additional jobs in the regions of Georgia, diversification of the regional businesses and boosting the tourism potential in the regions, according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Otar Antia, the Head of the Entrepreneurship Promotion Department of the Ministry of Economy, introduced the audience the mechanisms, which the State uses to facilitate the private sector and the amendments to the program as well. “The Agency regularly meets with the private sector representatives. Today’s event is focused on the entrepreneurs working in the hotel industry, including the Enterprise Georgia beneficiaries, who will receive information about the current trends in this direction from the field experts. We will also use this opportunity to get information about the challenges in the field from the private sector, which we will take into consideration in the support mechanisms that we have today,” – Otar Antia said.
Invited GIZ expert, Maia Tsereteli informed the audience on the modern trends in hotel management. In the framework of the event, the representatives of the sector also got familiar with the issues of modern trends in security, waste management and tourism.
“In line with the unprecedented growth in the tourism flow, development and expansion of the hotels and the hotel industry in Georgia becomes even more important. Enterprise Georgia of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development is targeted at the very aim and let me assure you, state support will be even more increased in the future” – the Chair of the National Tourism Administration, Giorgi Chogovadze stated.
According to the data of January 2018, the project Enterprise Georgia has supported 38 projects in the hotel industry, with total investments amounting to 113 million GEL. These hotels will create an additional 1174 rooms and more than 1200 jobs.
