The FINANCIAL — On 27 August 2015, Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili met NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. It is Jens Stoltenberg’s first visit to Georgia in his capacity as NATO Secretary General, according to MFA Georgia.
Discussions during the meeting focused on a broad spectrum of issues relating to Georgia’s integration with the NATO. The sides also discussed the preparations for the NATO Summit in Warsaw scheduled for 2016 and steps that have been taken in this direction. Special attention was paid to the progress achieved in the implementation of the Substantial Package. It was emphasized that the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Centre, whose inauguration will take place as part of Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to Georgia is a clear proof of the progress achieved in this direction. The sides also spoke about the developments in the country and the achievements made by Georgia on the path of reforms.
The Secretary General emphasized Georgia’s important contribution to the international peacekeeping operations highly appraising Georgian soldiers’ professionalism in the NATO-led missions in Afghanistan.
