The FINANCIAL — As wintry weather conditions hit the UK's shore, eight in 10 men admit they will be the designated driver compared with just 14% of women, latest research from Aviva reveals. From London Stock Exchange Home Page.
The insurer found that 78% of men in a relationship said they do the driving in poor weather compared with just 14% of women, while 18% of men said they share it equally.
Furthermore, men are seven times more likely to take over the wheel from their partner if the weather deteriorates while driving compared with just 4% of women.
However it was a different story when it comes to deciding who is designated driver over the Christmas party season. Around a third of women say they are most often the driver compared to 26% of men.
Just under a fifth of men said they shared this role equally with their partner compared with just 12% of women.
