The FINANCIAL — The Georgian National Youth Palace hosted a reception dedicated to the inscription of the Georgian alphabet on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by the UNESCO.
Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze addressed the attending audience, according to MFA of Georgia.
Minister of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia Mikheil Giorgadze, General Director of the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia Nikoloz Antidze, linguists Mzekala Shanidze and Avtandil Arabuli and Chairman of the Supervisory Board of TBC Bank Mamuka Khazaradze also addressed the guests and thanked the Georgian Foreign Ministry for the work carried out in this process.
The presentation of the book “Living culture of three writing systems of the Georgian alphabet” and two monuments of the Georgian Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity – qvevri wine and Georgian polyphony – was held.
The decision to inscribe “Living culture of three writing systems of the Georgian alphabet” on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was made at the eleventh session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage on 30 November.
The reception was organised by the National Agency for Cultural Heritage Preservation of Georgia through the support of the Ministry of Culture and Monument Protection of Georgia and TBC Bank.
