The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with U.S. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Georgia Ian Kelly.
The sides spoke about the results of the Georgian Foreign Minister’s visit to the U.S. on 9 and 10 February emphasizing the importance of the high-level meetings the Georgian delegation held with representatives of the new U.S. Administration. These meetings provide yet another proof of the strong strategic partnership between the two countries and the intention to further deepen co-operation in all important areas.
The Georgian Foreign Minister expressed his gratitude for the U.S. side’s positive assessments and messages of strong support for Georgia, which were voiced during various high-level meetings in Washington. Mikheil Janelidze and Ian Kelly agreed to further work jointly towards strengthening bilateral co-operation and effectively implementing the identified goals, according to MFA of Georgia.
The sides also spoke about the bilateral agenda for 2017, including meetings due to be held within the framework of the U.S.-Georgia Strategic Partnership Commission and issues relating to organizing high- and highest-level bilateral visits.
Talking points also included the need to coordinate activities to mark the upcoming 25th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
