The FINANCIAL — The Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister participated in the Conference on the International Energy Charter.
Speaking before the participants of the Conference, the Minister highlighted the importance of participation in the International Energy Charter of Georgia as a country transiting energy resources through its territory. He extensively spoke about the ongoing and planned international energy projects that contribute to the development of the East-West direction including by opening up good opportunities for the transportation of Turkmen gas to Europe. Accoridng to him, connecting Central Asia to the EU market Georgia is and will be an important and reliable partner of the the region.
According to him, the diversification of energy sources and the development of transport links will ensure the stable and sustainable development of the countries of the region by providing them with new economic opportunities.
The 28th meeting of the Conference on the International Energy Charter is held in Ashgabat. Within his working visit to Trukmenistam Mikheil Janelidze also held meetings with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov and other representatives of the Government of Turkmenistan, according to MFA of Georgia.
