The FINANCIAL — President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Shinichi Kitaoka paid a visit to Georgia from 10 to 13 June 2017, where he met with Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze in the format of working dinner.
Within the framework of the visit, JICA Georgia Office was officially established. Mikheil Janelidze highlighted JICA’s role in various projects that have been implemented as part of the Official Development Assistance (ODA), including “Clean Energy by Solar Electricity Generation” Project, which was opened at the Tbilisi International Airport in 2016 and another project, which is currently implemented at the Ilia State University, as well as Kutaisi-Samtredia section of the East-West Highway, which became was operational in 2015. Special mention was made of the significance of JICA’s training programs organized for Georgian public officials aimed at human resource development and strengthening bilateral relations.
Discussions also focused on the ongoing and future projects. Mikheil Janelidze emphasized that Georgia highly appreciates the Japanese Government’s assistace in the areas of infrastructure and environment, according to MFA of Georgia.
