The FINANCIAL — On 19 July 2016, within the framework of the first meeting of the High Level Strategic Cooperation Council (HLSC) between Georgia and the Republic of Turkey held in Ankara, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu. The two ministers discussed issues relating to bilateral co-operation emphasizing the importance of its further development.
The sides spoke about the successful co-operation between the two countries in the areas of politics, trade, economy, energy, defence and culture, paying special attention to the importance of developing a format of strategic co-operation between the two countries, which will provide an additional platform for the further development of bilateral relations.The sides expressed the readiness to strengthen co-operation within the international organisations, according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia
Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu once again reaffirmed the Turkish Government’s firm support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The two ministers discussed regional issues as well. Mikheil Janelidze reiterated the Georgian Government’s support for the Turkish people and for the democratically elected government of Turkey.
Mikheil Janelidze and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu underlined the importance of further stability for the development of the region.
