The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze is on his official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan where he met President Ilham Aliyev.
The sides spoke about the good-neighbourly and strategic relations between Georgia and Azerbaijan providing solid basis for the further development of co-operation.
Discussions during the meeting focused on important issues relating to bilateral relations and regional co-operation. The sides highlighted the country’s great potential for the development of political as well as trade-economic relations, according to MFA of Georgia.
Special note was taken of the importance of transport and energy projects between Georgia and Azerbaijan. The sides agreed to continue close cooperation for the implementation of the South Energy Corridor and Baku-Tbilisi-Karsi Railway projects.
The sides also spoke about co-operation within the framework of the European Union’s Eastern Partnership Initiative. The Georgian Foreign Minister welcomed the launching of works over the EU-Azerbaijan strategic document.
The sides expressed the readiness to continue the high-level dialogue and make a contribution towards further deepening the bilateral relations.
