The FINANCIAL — On 4 July 2016, the Georgian Foreign Minister, Mikheil Janelidze met the Chairman of the Parliament of Montenegro, Darko Pajovic who arrived in Georgia within the framework of the 25th annual session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, according to MFA of Georgia.
Mikheil Janelidze congratulated Montenegro on having received an official invitation to join NATO. According to him, this decision points to the credibility of the Alliance’s Open Door Policy giving Georgia an additional stimulus for intensifying efforts to move closer to NATO. Darko Pajovic said that with Montenegro becoming a member of NATO Georgia will gain one more stalwart supporter in the Alliance.
According to Mikheil Janelidze and Darko Pajovic, the common aim of integration with the European and Euro-Atlantic structures provides a good basis for strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The necessity to use the potential of co-operation in trade, tourism, agriculture and other areas was also highlighted.
Mikheil Janelidze thanked Darko Pajovic for Montenegro’s support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The sides expressed the hope that co-operation between Georgia and Montenegro will further strengthen following the parliamentary elections due to be held in both countries in October.
