The FINANCIAL — Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met with European Commssioner for Energy Maroš Šefčovič within the framework of the 14th international conference – “Georgia’s European Way – Ensuring Regional Security”.
The sides discussed prospects for deepening Georgia-EU co-operation in such strategic area as energy security, according to MFA of Georgia.
The sides welcomed Georgia’s joining the Energy Community Treaty as an important step towards European integration bringing the country closer to Europe’s common energy market. It was emphasized that membership of the Energy community will allow Georgia to improve the quality of energy security and contribute to its energy efficiency.
The European Commissioner highlighted Georgia’s transit role in ensuring Europe’s energy security and diversification of energy routes.
