The FINANCIAL — Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Austrian Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Sebastian Kurz.
The sides discussed the ways to increase OSCE’s involvement in the peaceful resolution of the Russian-Georgian conflict focusing on the security, humanitarian and human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied territories. They also spoke about the involvement of the OSCE Austrian Chairmanship in the process of confidence building between the war-torn communities living on both sides of the occupation line.
Special importance was paid to the importance of Georgia’s close co-operation with OSCE institutions in the democratization process of the country. Talking points also included prospects for deepening bilateral relations between Georgia and Austria, according to MFA of Georgia.
The Austrian Federal Minister reaffirmed Austria’s strong support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, making special mention of the progress Georgia has made on this path. In this context, Sebastian Kurz welcomed the European Parliament’s decision to grant Georgian visa-free travel with the EU, which is a powerful signal of support for Georgia’s European aspirations.
