The FINANCIAL — Within the framework of his visit to Spain, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze held a meeting with Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Spain Ignacio Ibanez.
The sides emphasized the successful bilateral relations between Georgia and Spain. The Secretary of State expressed his satisfaction at the Georgian Prime Minister’s forthcoming visit to Spain in the first half of 2017, according to MFA of Georgia.
Ignacio Ibanez reaffirmed his government’s support for Georgia’s European and Euro-Atlantic integration and welcomed the progress made in Georgia’s visa liberalization process.
While dealing with the Euro-Atlantic integration issues, the sides highlighted Georgia’s progress in the implementation of the Substantial Package of NATO, as well as the important role of the country in ensuring international security.
The sides expressed their readiness to further promote the development of economy, trade, tourism and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.
Ignacio Ibanez welcomed the nomination of Georgia’s candidate for Secretary General of the UN World Tourism Organization and the successfully conducted election campaign in Madrid.
