The FINANCIAL — According to Georgian Vice Premier, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze, Georgia was highlighted as an important player in the international formats and a valuable partner sharing its experience with other countries by Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili speaking before the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Mikheil Janelidze, the Prime Minister brought to the attention of the international community Georgia’s reforms over the past years and its successful role within the UN, including Georgia’s active involvement in the implementation of Goal 16 of Sustainable Development and Georgia’s the chairmanship of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Steering Committee.
The Prime Minister also focused on Georgia’s role in the development and stability of region, in particular the role Georgia and the region as a whole play in connecting Europe with Asia. The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of the Anaklia deep-sea port, as well as Georgia’s maximum integration with the European and Asian markets. According to Giorgi Kvirikashvili, each step of the Government of Georgia is taken towards the prosperity of our citizens
Mikheil Janelidze singled out for special mention the Prime Minister’s key messages regarding Georgia’s contribution towards ensuring global security. Also of great importance were Giorgi Kvirikashvili’s focus on the reconciliation policy and peaceful resolution of the conflicts and the Georgian Government’s initiatives in this regard opening up various opportunities for residents of the occupied regions. “The need to de-occupy Georgia and re-unify its territory was the key focus running through the speech of the Prime Minister” – Mikheil Ganelidze said
Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili appeared at the General Debates within the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
