The FINANCIAL — The Georgian Vice Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, Tsveta Karayancheva.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, discussing the bilateral cooperation between the two countries the sides highlighted the importance of exchanging visits and deepening sectoral co-opertaion. The sides welcomed the signing of a npartnership memorandum that envisions closer cooperation between the two legislatures.
Mikheil Janelidze congratulated Bulgaria on the successful completion of the term of presidency of the EU Council and expressed his gratitude for the firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its European and Euro-Atlantic integration path. Mikheil Janelidze also thanked Tsveta Karayancheva for Bulgaria’s statement with respect to the Syrian regime’s recognition of the so-called independence of Georgia’s occupied territories. Discussing the situation in Georgia’s Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions, Mikheil Janelidze updated Tsveta Karayancheva on Georgia’s peace initiative “A step toward a better future”.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, during the meeting the sides discussed the ongoing joint projects in the areas of transport, infrastructure and energy. Discussions also focused on co-operation in the area of tourism that will contribute to the deepening of people-to-people contacts. Tsveta Karayancheva invited the Georgian Vice Prime Minister to Bulgaria.
