The FINANCIAL — An EU-funded Technical Assistance Project funded by the EU in Moldova as part of its Economic Stimulation in Rural Area Budget Support Programme (ESRA BSP) supporting SME business development since 2010, has come to an end, having brought together Moldovan officials in a closing conference last week.
The Programme and Technical Assistance Project have played “a key role in the economic development of Moldova’s rural economy”, said Ambassador Pirkka Tapiola, Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
The programme has allocated over 3,200 individual business development grants, supported over 1,600 new and existing rural business, created close to 10,000 new jobs in the rural economy and created a network of eight Rural Business Incubators.
The ESRA BSP programme supported sustainable economic development in rural areas by creating new rural businesses, generating higher-quality and better-paid rural jobs and providing a socio-economic boost to disadvantaged rural areas.
