The FINANCIAL — The EU has named Andrew Tesoriere as the new head of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine. A press release of EU Delegation to Moldova said: “he is taking up this position at a crucial time for the Mission, when strengthening regional border security has never been more vital.”
Tesoriere was previously Deputy Head of Mission and before joining the EUBAM served as British Ambassador to Albania, Algeria and Latvia, and Chargé d’Affaires to Afghanistan and Syria, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
Speaking about his appointment, Ambassador Tesoriere said: “I very much look forward to consolidating and strengthening EUBAM’s close working relationship with our partners in Moldova and Ukraine, both those in government service, but also elected representatives, the business community and civil society.”
The EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM) aims to improve cooperation between the border-guard and customs services and with other law-enforcement agencies, and facilitate cross-border and international cooperation. EUBAM seeks to promote confidence building and to contribute to the peaceful settlement of the Transnistria conflict, as well as to engage with civil society and support the partner services’ anti-corruption and good governance efforts.
