The FINANCIAL — Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) announced on March 30 that it has launched the C24 CDMA wireless module, the latest addition to the M2M wireless modules family. Motorola wireless modules support a wide range of technologies, designed especially for the M2M (Machine-to-Machine) market's unique needs.
According to Motorola, the new C24 CDMA 1X module shares the same form factor as the rest of the Motorola wireless module family, offering its customers flexibility with a single design solution. The C24 features an internal TCP/IP stack for easy data transfer, FOTA (Firmware Over the Air) Support and SSL for secure connectivity. In addition, the C24 features on-board multimode GPS, including Autonomous GPS, A-GPS, and MS-Based GPS, making it the ideal choice for location-based wireless applications.
"We are proud to be first to provide our customers with the most advanced platforms that will help them deliver dependable innovative solutions," said Dennis Kelly, North America Director of Sales, Motorola Wireless Modules. "The launch of the C24 demonstrates once again Motorola's commitment to the M2M industry. By offering a superior quality portfolio of wireless modules, supporting various air interfaces with easy interchangeability, Motorola allows its customers cost-effective, easily integrated wireless modules, for a trusted wireless connectivity."
With Sprint's certification, its enhanced features and smaller size, the C24 will offer an additional choice for those looking to embed connectivity to the Sprint network in their devices to deliver services (including GPS), fleet management, telematics, utilities (AMI), automation and control, remote monitoring and other machine-to-machine applications.
Sprint and Motorola have collaborated together in the M2M space for several years offering iDEN(R) and CDMA modules to third party OEMs. Sprint has been an M2M industry leader for more than six years, with highly valued partnerships and with more than 200 different non-Sprint-branded devices operating on the Sprint network (CDMA and iDEN) through its widely respected Open Device Initiative device certification process.
The C24 is certified by Sprint and all major international bodies' regulatory and approvals.
