The FINANCIAL — Motorola (NYSE: MOT) will showcase content-delivery solutions designed to bring content to consumers in a personalized, seamless way, while optimizing networks for operators, service providers and programmers at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) show in Las Vegas this week.
In addition to the demonstrations, Motorola will deliver a keynote on media mobility, focusing on
how the trend for video consumption is a proven mass-market pastime with significant untapped potential.

Optimizing networks
Motorola's booth, located at SU5013, will demonstrate a variety of IP-based technologies that are designed to optimize customers' networks, including Motorola's field-proven MPEG-4 integrated receiver/ transcoders that receive MPEG4 signals and convert to MPEG-2 for compatibility with existing cable systems. Motorola's all-IP headend will also be showcased at the event, demonstrating efficient IP-enabled video processing equipment interconnected using standard IP routers and switches.
This demonstration is preceded by Motorola's announcement that it is supporting Active Format Description in applicable MPEG products, including high-definition (HD) encoders and the DSR-6000 series digital satellite receiver/transcoders, allowing HD content to be correctly converted to
standard-definition in downstream devices.
Motorola's digital video portfolio at the show includes its Switched Digital Video (SDV) solutions showcasing capabilities including real-time monitoring and extensive reporting of system performance and subscriber channel changes. Motorola's VODxchange server will also be on show,
demonstrating its delivery of rapid content ingest and reformatting to enable local operators to create localized VOD content quickly and efficiently.
Motorola's Cherry Picker(TM) Solutions will also be showcased. Its advanced IP-centric architecture is designed to provide a comprehensive suite of digital video processing applications to optimize network usage, deliver additional revenue and provide targeted advertising for localized geographic areas.
Accelerating the delivery of personal media experiences
Also being showcased at the event are Motorola's IP set-tops featuring Microsoft(R) Mediaroom(TM) middleware and Motorola's KreaTV(TM) open platform IP set tops, which support a range of unique applications in addition to multiple middleware and DRM solutions. Motorola's Mobile TV portfolio will also be on display, demonstrating live broadcast TV using the DVB-H standard for personalized media on the go.
