The FINANCIAL — Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) and Apriva, one of the leading providers of wireless transactions and secure information solutions, on March 11 announced that Apriva’s authentication products, including Apriva Bluetooth Smart Card Reader, Apriva CSPware and Apriva Guard, will be integrated into Motorola’s mobile computing platform to provide secure mobile Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) authentication.
The solution ensures that users requiring access to sensitive data receive the proper authentication based on cryptography and smart card technology.
KEY FACTS
Through this business relationship, Apriva technology enables PKI authentication to ensure that user credentials are trusted and currently valid. When the Motorola device is locked without an authenticated user logged in, Apriva software helps ensure data cannot be compromised if the device is stolen or lost.
Apriva Reader is a portable and compact Bluetooth- capable smart card reader (SCR) that utilizes a highly secure FIPS validated AES 256 encrypted Bluetooth connection to the Motorola mobile computing platform. It allows users to utilize government-issued smart cards, including Common Access Card (CAC), Personal Identity Verification (PIV/PIV-I) ID card or any ISO 7816 smart card to unlock and authenticate to their Motorola mobile computer.
In addition, Apriva Reader extends Motorola’s enterprise mobility products to meet enterprise, federal, state, and local Government’s very challenging data security requirements. Partners and integrators that develop applications for the Motorola mobile computing platform can now access information on smart cards using Apriva CSPware.
The Motorola Validated PLUS Program (MVP) provides Motorola the opportunity to complement its core product offerings with approved context products provided by third parties. The program includes approval criteria such as, but not limited to, quality, reliability, regulatory, service and most importantly system interoperability with certain Motorola products.
