The FINANCIAL — Representatives of energy regulators, gas network operators and international agencies will meet in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on 7 April for a round table discussion on natural gas distribution. The event will focus on the legal barriers to the development of gas distribution networks, regulatory practice for operators, and the management of networks, the EU-funded regional energy cooperation programme INOGATE said on its website.
The meeting will be opened by Head of EU Delegation to Ukraine Ambassador Jan Tombinski, and by Oleksandr Dombrovskyi, Acting Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee and Member of the Expert Council on the Development of the Gas Industry and Market in Ukraine, according to EU Neighbourhood Info.
The round table will discuss European approaches to gas distribution tariffs and gas losses, as well as differences between Ukrainian and European gas distribution operating performance indicators, and lessons learnt for the improvement of operation and regulation. The final session will focus on priority steps towards modernisation of the Ukrainian gas network by 2018, and the problems faced by European companies investing into the country’s gas distribution sector.
This is one of the last events supported by the INOGATE programme, which is set to end in April 2016 after 20 years of support of energy partnership between the EU and countries in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia.
