The FINANCIAL — Seven representatives from the Revenue Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia visited the Netherlands to learn how the country deals with advance passenger information.
They visited the Advance Passenger Information (API) Centre, learned about the roles of air account managers, visited the border authorities at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and saw how they process API data and use it during actual border control procedures.
The Georgian delegation also learned about the technical aspects of the Dutch API system, such as how to securely transfer data, possible technical consequences, the importance of data quality control and legal issues. The visit was concluded by a summary and a very comprehensive presentation of all the discussed issues by the API Centre director.
The visit should help clarify various technical and legal questions that the Government of Georgia has come across throughout the complex process of setting up the Advance Passenger Information system in Georgia. The visit was organised by the International Organisation for Migration with the support of the EU.
