The FINANCIAL — A new EU project, recently launched in Georgia, will focus on access to international standard metrology and standardisation services in the country.
While further supporting the development of Georgia’s metrology and standardisation infrastructure in line with EU and international best practices, the project will also focus on improving the knowledge and skills of Georgian National Agency for Standards and Metrology (GEOSTM) employees, upgrading technical infrastructure, and improving relevant work procedures and processes.
Implemented by the British Standards Institution, the Danish National Metrology Institute and the Latvian standardisation company in cooperation with the GEOSTM, the 21-month-long project will aim to provide the country’s industry, businesses and workers with access to quality metrology and standardisation services.
This EU assistance will be implemented in the form of a ‘Twinning’ project, through which bodies and institutions from the EU Member States will transfer their know-how and procedures to the beneficiary country institutions, according to EU Neighbours East Info.
Twinning is a European Union instrument for institutional cooperation between public administrations of EU Member States and of beneficiary or partner countries.
Twinning projects bring together public sector expertise from EU Member States and beneficiary countries with the aim of achieving concrete mandatory operational results through peer-to-peer activities.
