The FINANCIAL — A new postgraduate partnership is being launched in order to create distinctive higher education opportunities in the business, management and engineering sectors.
This new collaboration between Aston University and Cranfield University will include postgraduate scholarships and joint research opportunities.
There are also plans for the development of new degree programmes and shared access to specialist research assets, according to Aston University.
Chief Executive and Vice-Chancellor of Cranfield, Sir Peter Gregson said: “We are delighted to have agreed this collaboration with Aston University. As two internationally-acclaimed Universities with a shared focus on the needs of business and government, it’s an excellent opportunity for us to play to our strengths on a range of complementary activities.”
Vice-Chancellor of Aston University, Professor Dame Julia King, said: “This is a partnership of the like-minded. Aston and Cranfield are both ambitious, energetic universities, set on developing the leaders of tomorrow in business and the professions, and translating research into economic growth. Working together will create exciting opportunities for students, collaborators and staff.”
Aston and Cranfield are world-class, highly influential educational organisations with complementary strengths in engineering and management.
Both Universities have strong links with business. Aston has particular expertise in entrepreneurship and enterprise, working with SMEs, and aiding small business growth. Cranfield has relationships with over 1500 businesses in 40 countries and has an unrivalled focus on practical, applied research for industry at postgraduate level. Aston has a strong focus on employability and social mobility and has been a leading university for graduate employment success for over 25 years.
An event at Cranfield University to mark the collaboration took place last week when Professor Lynnette Ryals, Pro Vice Chancellor for Education at Cranfield, welcomed a delegation from Aston.
