The FINANCIAL -- Bangkok Airways Public Company Limited announces its operating results for the nine-month period of 2016 which has achieved total revenue amounting to 20,528.1 million baht.
This is an increase of 10.0 percent from the similar period last year. The net profit was reported at 2,143.6 million baht, an increase of 20.4 percent from the nine-month period of the previous year.
Mr. Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, President of Bangkok Airways PCL commented that, "In the third quarter, total revenue of the company was 6,697.7 million baht, increased by 5.2 percent from the same period in the previous year. Net profit was reported at the amount of 680.9 million baht, increased by 15.2 percent from the same period last year in which the profit attributable to the equity holder of the company was 662.4 million baht. Earnings per share equal to 0.32 baht. The better operating performance was mainly based on an increasing number of passengers. The number of passengers of Bangkok Airways increased by 8.9 percent for the third quarter of 2016. The total number of passengers was 1.4 million passengers. Our load factor for this quarter was 70.3 percent, increased 2.7 percent point from the same period last year. For the first nine-month period, the company had total revenue amounting to 20,528.1 million baht, increased by 10.0 percent. The net profit was reported at 2,143.6 million baht; up by 20.4 percent."
In July, Bangkok Airways launched new non-stop flight service between Samui and Chengdu (China), with 4 flights per week. The airline plans to increase flight frequency on the Samui-Chengdu route from 4 flights per week to a daily service in the beginning of 2017 due to an increasing number of Chinese passengers. In addition to that, the airline will launch new daily non-stop flight service between Samui and Guangzhou (China) in the beginning of 2017, according to Bangkok Airways.
Moreover, in the third quarter, the company also increased flight frequencies on the Bangkok - Sukhothai route from 14 flights to 21 flights per week, and Had Yai - Phuket from 7 flights to 10 flights per week. This was done in order to enhance amenity to passengers and efficiency for corporate travelers, which are another customer group beside leisure travelers.
In this third quarter, Bangkok Airways received a brand-new ATR 72-600, which makes a total of 34 aircraft; 14 are turbo-prop ATR72-500/600s, 20 are Airbus A319s/A320s. In addition, there will be 1 or 2 new aircraft delivered to the company within this year.
