The FINANCIAL — NIB has signed a three-year loan agreement of SEK 50 million (EUR 5 million) with the Municipality of Ängelsholm for the upgrade of its sewage treatment system, on the west coast of Sweden.
The population of Ängelholm is growing and the municipality plans to upgrade its sewage system to accommodate the growth.
The plan is to increase the capacity of its wastewater treatment plant to match a population of 62,000 from the current capacity of 37,000. This is partly due to more households being connected to the municipal wastewater network, according to NIB.
The programme runs from 2016 until 2020. The total project cost is estimated to be approximately SEK 454 million, of which NIB could finance up to SEK 150 million. The investment is expected to increase capacity by almost 60%. The loan can be extended up to 15 years.
Ängelholm has approximately 40,000 inhabitants and employs about 3,000 people.
