The FINANCIAL — YOKOHAMA, Japan Nissan Motor announced its production, sales and export figures for October 2011.
Nissan's global production in October increased 18.8% year-on-year to 431,464 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
Production in Japan increased 32.9% year-on-year to 115,932 units, due to increased demand for Serena and Juke. In addition, there was as a rebound in demand in contrast to the decreased demand of last year caused by the end of the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.
Production outside of Japan increased 14.3% year-on-year to 315,532 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
In the U.S., production increased 5.6% year-on-year to 49,936 units, mainly due to increased demand for Altima.
In Mexico, production increased 20.9% year-on-year to 63,224 units, due to increased demand for the new Versa and the new March.
In the U.K., production increased 13.9% year-on-year to 45,947 units, mainly due to increased demand for Juke.
In Spain, production increased 26.4% year-on-year to 14,134 units, mainly due to increased demand for Primastar.
In China, production increased 29.4% year-on-year to 109,546 units, mainly due to increased demand for the new Tiida, Sunny and Qashqai, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
Production in other regions decreased 18.6% year-on-year to 32,745 units, despite increased demand for the new Sunny in India, due to the impact of the floods in Thailand.Global sales increased 21.7% year-on-year to 388,715 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
Including mini-vehicles, Nissan sold 46,851 units in Japan, up 39.3% year-on-year.
In Japan, vehicle registrations in October increased 32.5% year-on-year to 33,626 units, mainly due to increased demand for Serena and the new Lafesta Highway Star. In addition, there was a rebound in demand in contrast to the decreased demand of last year caused by the end of the government subsidy program for environmentally-friendly vehicles.
Domestic sales of mini-vehicles increased 60.2% year-on-year to 13,225 units, due to increased demand for Moco, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
Sales outside of Japan increased 19.7% year-on-year to 341,864 units, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
Sales in the U.S. increased 18.0% year-on-year to 82,346 units, due to increased demand for the new Versa, Altima and Rogue.
In Europe, sales increased 16.5% year-on-year to 57,518 units, due to strong sales in Russia and additional sales of Juke.
In China, sales saw an increase of 29.6% year-on-year to 108,455 units, due to increased demand for the new Tiida, Sunny, Qashqai and Teana, marking an all-time record for the month of October.
Sales in other regions increased 14.1% year-on-year to 67,542 units, mainly due to increased demand in India, Indonesia and Brazil.Nissan's exports in October increased 14.8% year-on-year to 73,162 units.
Exports to North America increased 4.5% year-on-year to 41,331 units, mainly due to increased demand for Juke.
Exports to Europe increased 74.4% year-on-year to 10,348 units, mainly due to increased demand for X-Trail.
