The FINANCIAL — According to Civil Georgia, Giorgi Tavdgiridze of the opposition New Rights Party was attacked and beaten near his apartment in Tbilisi on June 2, the New Rights Party has said.
Tavdgiridze, a former rector of the Georgian Military Academy, was hospitalized with head injuries.
Earlier on June 2 the New Rights Party said one of its activists in Gori was also attacked and beaten by unknown men.
Three other separate cases of attacks on opposition activists were reported over the last few days.
The New Rights Party has alleged that the authorities are behind the attacks.
