The FINANCIAL — According to Georgian news agency "Pirveli", leaders of the United National Council met with the president of Estonia Thomas Hendrick Ilves on January 21.
According to Salome Zurabishvili, political situation and development of events in Georgia was very important for Estonia.
She also said the president of Estonia was not a friend to Saakashvili's or any other government, but to Georgian people in the first place.
Salome Zurabishvili told journalists that the Estonian president invited opposition leaders to Estonia for more profound discussion of the problems related with elections.
“We shared our position regarding the elections and other issues to the President of Estonia. We told Mr. Ilves that Georgia would get very difficult outcome unless the situation in Georgia became just like they had in Estonia,' Unsuccessful candidate of the UNC, Levan Gachechiladze said.
Estonian president has also talked with journalists after the meeting, “I was in opposition three times and the ideas of Georgian opposition is quite intelligible for me. I have invited the opposition leaders to Estonia to introduce our institute of ombudsman, Public Broadcast and the work of the CEC and use this experience in Georgia,' Mr. Ilves said.
