The FINANCIAL — To help retailers accelerate their design and implementation of an enterprise data warehouse, Oracle on April 27 introduced the Oracle Retail Data Model, a standards-based data model for Oracle Database.
The data model features a retail industry-specific schema complete with embedded retail-specific analytics to help retailers gain extreme intelligence into their business operations.
"Built for the Oracle Database platform including the HP Oracle Database Machine and HP Oracle Exadata Storage servers, the Oracle Retail Data Model is generally available and downloadable from the Oracle Technology Network (OTN)," Oracle reports.
Comprehensive Retail Package for World’s #1 Data Warehouse
The Oracle Retail Data Model marries extensive retail knowledge with Oracle’s industry-leading data warehouse software to deliver immediate value to a wide range of retail organizations including grocery stores, specialty store chains, mass merchants, convenience stores and multi-channel retailers.
The solution helps retailers make better decisions by providing advanced analytics such as forecasting out-of-stock situations, understanding hidden patterns for loss prevention, contribution and market basket analysis, product affinity, customer clustering and segmentation, halo impact and promotional lift.
The Oracle Retail Data Model works with existing retail and point-of-sale systems while providing a data-warehousing platform that is extremely fast, highly secure and reliable, and completely customizable and scalable.
Out-of-the-box, the Oracle Retail Data Model delivers:
Third Normal Form Logical Data Model based on Association for Retail Technology Standards (ARTS);
Over 1,200 industry-specific measures and key performance indicators across the gamut of retail operations from point of sale and inventory through merchandising and promotions to order management and more;
Embedded OLAP cubes prebuilt using Oracle OLAP for extremely fast dimensional analysis of business information; and,
Embedded data mining models pre-built using Oracle Data Mining for sophisticated trending and predictive analysis.
With a prebuilt data model and embedded components for retailers, the Oracle Retail Data Model is designed to jumpstart data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives helping retail organizations realize a fast return on investment by reducing implementation time and costs.
Furthermore, the solution’s open, standards-based model allows for quick integration with existing retail applications further reducing integration costs and complexity.
