The FINANCIAL — Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has always ranked the interest and wellbeing of the community as a priority, and has simultaneously worked towards their holistic growth and development. In line with this commitment, Tata Power’s Maithon Power (MPL), a 74:26 joint venture between Tata Power and Damodar Valley Corporation, has undertaken the initiative of supplying clean drinking water to the community through water tankers during the summer season. The initiative will benefit a total of 28 villages in the villages nearby MPL.
The objective of the initiative is to cater to the basic need of the rural communities who were deprived of safe drinking water due to severe water scarcity. To counter this, the company hired three large water tankers, each with a capacity of 5,000 litre, to supply drinking water to the community. Till date, the company has distributed nearly 270 tankers of drinking water, according to Tata Sons Ltd.
Speaking about the initiative, Sabyasachi Mukherjee, chief, O&M, MPL, added, “Safe drinking water is a basic human need. However, a large portion of India’s population is denied access to safe drinking water. Tata Power endeavours to cater to this need by providing access to clean and hygienic drinking water.”
