The FINANCIAL — In August 2017, over a million international travelers – 1 080 449 people visited Georgia, which is by 232 068 higher number compared to the same period of the previous year (+27.4%).
This August, the number of foreign travelers or tourists who spent 24 hours or more in Georgia reached 573 368 people, which is by 122 721 more compared to the August, 2016 (+27.2%).
An unprecedented large number of international travelers was recorded during the summer season 2017. In June-August, 2 729 429 international travelers visited Georgia, which is by 597 527 higher number compared to the summer season 2016 (+28.7%). During this period, the number of foreign travelers and tourists, who spent 24 hours or more in the country, reached 1 421 031 people, which is by 350 168 more compared to the same period of 2016 (+32.7%), according to Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
Over 5 million international travelers visited Georgia in 8 months of 2017.
According to the data of January-August 2017, the number of international travelers that visited Georgia equaled to 5 059 106, which is by 804 263 people more compared to the same period of the previous year (+18.9%).
In January-August 2017, the number of foreign travelers and tourists, who spent 24 hours or more in Georgia, reached 2 402 699, which is by 546 537 people more compared to the January-August 2016 (+29.4%).
In January-August 2017, the increased number of visitors is recorded from (+10.4%), Armenia (+16.8%), Russia (+33.9%), Turkey (-6,6%) and Iran (+141.9%). The positive trend is maintained regarding the travelers from the EU countries. In January-August 2017, the increased number of tourists is recorded from such EU countries as the Netherlands (+38%), Germany (+32%), the United Kingdom (+31%) and France (+29%).
Significant growth is recorded in the number of tourists from Saudi Arabia (+196%), Kuwait (+178%), Iran (+142%) and India (+99%).
