The FINANCIAL — Perth Airport says the announcement by Qantas of a start date for its new Perth-London service is a significant step forward for the project.
Perth Airport has welcomed the Qantas announcement that the 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft will commence operating the direct Perth-London service from March 24, 2018, according to Perth Airport.
Perth Airport Chief Executive Officer, Kevin Brown, says the direct flight will open up new opportunities for passengers travelling to and from Europe.
“An enormous amount of work has already gone into planning this project,” Mr Brown said.
“The announcement of the start date for flights is a positive sign that this hard work is paying off and momentum is building.
“Today’s announcement will add to the sense of excitement that is building in the community about this service.
“This project has the potential to deliver major benefits for Western Australia and it will help elevate Perth as a destination for international travellers.
“The new service will also add to a range of options open to Western Australians to travel to and from Europe.
“We will continue to work with Qantas and the State and Federal governments to ensure this project delivers on its full potential for Western Australia.”
