The FINANCIAL — In the past pharmacies were associated with healthcare only, but today the situation has changed as pharmacies have become a part of people’s everyday lives. Pharmaceutical Companies PSP and GPC are trying to develop this tendency and represent not only medical products in their drug store nets, but hygiene, health and beauty care means as well.
According to Marika Lomtadze, Marketing Manager of PSP, the company is an innovator and was the first to offer a new project type to its customers. The aim of the project was to offer a European standard Pharma Market to Georgian customers.

Improvement of life quality is the aim of contemporary pharmacology,” Kiladze added.

The number of PSP suppliers is up to 150. The majority of them prefer an exclusive partnership with PSP,” Lomtadze said.

“PSP specially cares about the development of national pharmacy development. GMP is a clear example of Georgian pharmacy development. GM Pharmaceuticals’ entire production cycle fully corresponds to international standards of modern pharmaceutical technologies. The factory basic processes are: mixing, granulating, tableting, capsuling, coating and packaging procedures. Quality system includes TQM (Total Quality Management), Suppliers audit, QC (Quality Control) of starting materials, in process control and approval of finished product by qualified person (QP). Qualified personnel perform all operations connected with product quality. The company’s QP is a member of the European QP Association,” Lomtadze said.
As for cosmetics PSP receives direct import from: Bioscreen – France therapeutic cosmetic, Gilbert Laboratories – France, KRKA – Slovenia, Nippes-Solingen – Germany, Lary-Mary – England, Orion Pharma – Finland, Ozon – France therapeutic cosmetic, and Ziaja – Poland.

In Kiladze’s words, GPC’s drugstores are different from its opponents’ drugstores.

According to Lomtadze, curative cosmetic brands are regarded better sellers compared to the decorative cosmetics, because such cosmetics are always tested medically and are far more reliable compared to the decorative ones.
“Such cosmetics are mostly hypoallergenic. In summer demand increases on sun protective creams. In autumn demand increases on shampoos for problematic hair. In general the most requested products are cosmetic means for the elderly and shampoos,” Lomtadze added.
“Chemist’s cosmetic means are more often used not just for daily skin care rituals, but for the solving of certain problems. For example, these means are widely used for the care of very sensitive skin types, for problem skin treatment, a struggle with spots, and age attributes of wrinkling or cellulite. As a rule these products are not sold in cosmetic stores, as consultants’ prescriptions are very important. Different people have different types of skin. It is very important to choose the right product with the exact formula suitable for your particular skin type,” Kiladze noted.
According to Lomtadze, there is greater choice according to the price and brands of cosmetics in PSP’s drug store net. Each product has its loyal users. The most popular curative brands are French brands OZON and Rock Cosmetics. PSP will soon start to import the L’oreal-Vichy cosmetic series directly from the producers.
