The FINANCIAL — Pirates freed MV Lugela vessel with a crew of 12 Ukrainian aboard in the Indian Ocean, reads a statement made by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The ship was released in the night of September 26/27.
The Foreign Ministry specifies, during the pirate attack on September 25 all the vessel crew locked themselves up in the engine space with enough supplies of drinking water and food.
The sailors did not allow the pirates to alter the vessel's course and direct to toward the Somali coast.
Having stayed on the uncontrolled vessel for about two days the pirates left it.
MV Lugela continues following its itinerary.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Ukraine is initiating UN consideration and endorsement of a counter-piracy convention.
