The FINANCIAL — TEL AVIV. Israeli police used force on February 28 to disperse Palestinian rioters at a Jerusalem sensitive religious site, a police spokesman said, accoridng to RIA Novosti.
The disturbances occurred in the compound known to Jews as the Temple Mount and to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary when Palestinians started to hurl stones at non-Muslim foreign tourists visiting the religious site.
The disturbances also spread to the streets of Jerusalem's Old City near the Temple Mount and the eastern parts of Jerusalem mostly populated by Arabs.
The police spokesman said that four policemen were slightly hurt in the clashes while Palestinian media reported that at least eight Palestinians received injuries during the incident.
The disturbances occurred on the Jewish Purim holiday.
