The FINANCIAL — According to Polkie Radio, prior to tomorrow’s summit both Poland’s president and PM talked separately with Chancellor Angela Merkel on the EU's strategy towards the Russian-Georgian conflict. Additionaly, PM Tusk consulted Ukraine's PM Yulia Tymoshenko, while President Kaczynski talked to his Ukrainian counterpart Viktor Yushchenko.
According to Mariusz Handzlik from the President's Office, Lech Kaczynski and Angela Merkel agreed that the Russian army must leave all areas of Georgia and that the French mission to solve the crisis needs to be supported. The Polish and Ukrainian presidents agreed their full support for Georgia's territorial integrity and the French peace mission.
Also Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski took part in a teleconference including foreign ministers from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Romania and Bulgaria.
