The FINANCIAL — WARSAW, Former Polish president Alexander Kwasniewski said on December 1 he would agree to become NATO secretary general if nominated.
"I would agree, as I believe that of all international posts this one is particularly engaging," Kwasniewski said.
Kwasniewski, 54, who led the former Communist-bloc country from 1995 to 2005 pursuing closer ties with the European Union and military alliance, said foreign ministers of some NATO countries had approached him on the issue.
The military alliance is due to elect a new secretary general in April.
