The FINANCIAL — Third round of political consultations was held between the Foreign Ministries of Georgia and the Republic of Colombia via a conference call, on 29 June 2016, according to MFA of Georgia.
Deputy Foreign Minister Davit Jalagania headed the Georgian delegation while the Colombian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Patti Londoño Jaramillo. The delegations also included representatives of various departments of the foreign ministries, as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Colombia, Otar Berdzenishvili and his Colombian counterpart, Ambassador-designate of Colombia to Georgia, Juan Alfredo Pinto Saavedra.
Within the framework of political consultations, the sides discussed a broad spectrum of bilateral co-operation, including in the areas of economy, culture, tourism, education and sport, as well as the issues relating to the deepening of a political dialogue and the improvement of the legal framework. The importance of co-operation within the international organizations and of support for issues of mutual interest was also highlighted.
The sides exchanged views concerning the ongoing integration processes in both countries. Special attention was paid to Georgia’s engagement in the Latin American organizations. The Colombian side expressed a close interest in the development of the potential of Georgia as a regional hub.
The sides agreed to continue high-level meetings and the exchange of bilateral visits. They also set concrete plans for implementing bilateral initiatives.
