The FINANCIAL — Porsche, the most successful luxury auto brand manufacturer with over half a century of history, has chosen Tegeta Motors as its official importer and distributor in Georgia. 5 people have already placed an order for a Porsche at Tegeta Motors and the company plans to sell 20 Porsche on average per annum.
Although Porsche has its official representation in over 100 countries, including Georgia’s neighbouring countries of Azerbaijan and Armenia, the first official import agreement with a Georgian company was only concluded with Tegeta Motors in November this year.
All the three main lines of Porsche starting from the first traditional well-known Porsche 911 Carrera and its derivative Boxster and Cayman together with the newest Panamera will be presented in Tegeta Motors’ Porsche auto show-room, from February 2011.
As Tegeta Motors reps say, the cheapest brands of Porsche in Georgia will be the Porsche Cayenne which will cost 50,000 EUR on average. In addition they will be offering sophisticated customization of any Porsche parts.
As David Nozadze, Director of Tegeta Premium Vehicles Ltd told us, there were two other pretenders (Georgian auto companies) for making the deal with Porsche albeit Porsche opted in their favour.
“Porsche had been interested in expanding to the Georgian market for five years already but this year, from January, we started intensive negotiations with them and in November we signed an import agreement with Dr. Ing. H.c.F. Porsche AG,” said Nozadze.
“In the beginning of 2011 we’re also going to open an authorized Porsche service centre designed together with German specialists with all the diagnostic equipment and original parts of the cars. Henceforth any owner of Porsche in Georgia will be serviced at Tegeta Motors” added Nozadze.
“Porsche, as a company, sets its own requirements for new market entry. The first condition to be satisfied was market prosperity and per capita income, and quality of fuels as Porsche requires high-end fuel. The second criterion was overall safety in the country including personal safety as well as conditions of the roads in terms of surface as sports cars require high quality surface.
In regards to that, ten years ago it was absolutely impossible to introduce Porsche in Georgia, but since 2005, the company took an interest in the Georgian market.
The decisive criteria except for the above enlisted requirements, was searching for a local partner which could introduce those cars. The partner company was required to have highly trained technical staff and all services available to best serve its customers for whatever need a car might have. In this regard Tegeta Motors is of course the leader on the market, that’s why the choice was made for us,” David Nozadze told The FINANCIAL.
Tegeta Motors will also be offering a Trade-in system whereby owners of any brand of car in Georgia will be given the opportunity to exchange their old car for a top-notch Porsche, just adding the difference between the evaluated prices.
Used Porsche cars will also be available at Tegeta Motors. “Gradually we’ll also bring in approved used-Porsche vehicles, which are used vehicles coming with a warranty. Meaning they are pre-owned but we make all the necessary repairs and then sell them with a warranty, and of course at a greater discount” noted Nozadze.
“In addition we’ll be providing instalments for Porsche brands from the very start of importing the cars, all of them with similar conditions. What’s more those individuals who order Porsche cars by January 1, 2011 will get a special discount.
