The FINANCIAL — With immediate effect, customers can not only use the free iPad "Postbank Financial Assistant" app for managing their budget, they can also transfer funds or set up standing orders, according to Deutsche Postbank AG.
The new function also contains a completely new user interface. It simplifies data input for the customer: the input mask for the entire transaction is on a single line. This means that the online customer can insert recipient data such as account number, sort code and amount one after the other, with no need to change fields. In addition, they can use the iPad’s integrated voice recognition function for filling in the data (from version 3 of the iPad and the iPad mini). A further advantage: when the first letters are entered, the application suggests recipient data from stored entries that the customer can accept with just one click, according to Deutsche Postbank AG.
"With tablets and smartphones, the perceived boundaries between online and mobile are becoming more and more blurred. What remains is what customers want: to conduct their bank transactions as easily as possible, at any time – and also when on the move. In the future, mobile apps will have an increasingly important function – and that’s the reason we’re investing more heavily in them", said Philip Laucks, Executive Vice President of Direct Banking at Postbank.
The faithful old accounts book is a thing of the past – because the "Postbank Financial Assistant" can do even more. It also handles the laborious accounting of income and expenditure almost automatically. In just a few clicks, the app user receives an overview of their current financial situation and can plan their budget in an anticipatory manner. With the integrated calculation of the anticipated account balance, they receive an overview in good time as to whether purchases can be made or whether future debits will place an excessive burden on the account, according to Deutsche Postbank AG.
It is becoming more and more popular to conduct bank transactions on mobile terminal devices. Postbank recognised this trend very early on. With the launch of the Apple iPhone in 2007, as the first bank in Germany it introduced "iBanking", the first banking solution for this smartphone. The iPhone app "Postbank" followed in 2009 with the further development of this application. In March 2012, users were then able to enjoy the "Postbank app" for Android smartphones. And in August 2012, just a few months later, the "Postbank Financial Assistant" app for the iPad arrived. Postbank has continuously developed the app and equipped it with new, even better functions. An app for Android tablets is already at the planning stage, according to Deutsche Postbank AG.
The current accolades are particularly pleasing: in the Global Mobile Banking Rankings from Forrester Research Inc., the "extensive financial administration options" and the "usability" of the Postbank iPhone app were particularly praised. Together with the apps from the Société Générale, Postbank enjoyed a position at the top of the global rankings. Furthermore, a survey by STATISTA in March 2013 found that the Postbank smartphone apps are among the most popular banking apps in Germany. This is also confirmed by the 800,000 downloads of the mobile Postbank application.
All Postbank apps are available free from the iTunes store or at Google Play.
