The FINANCIAL — The President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Ms. Margot Wallström and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Mr. Witold Waszczykowski. The two have visited Georgia as the European Union ministers responsible for foreign affairs.
The meeting focused on Georgia’s European integration process and preparatory activities for the Eastern Partnership Summit. As noted, the entire visit, including the meeting with the President is extremely important, especially being organized a few days before the Eastern Partnership Summit, as Sweden and Poland are initiator countries of the Partnership that firmly support Georgia’s European integration.
Significant areas of cooperation between Georgia and the EU, as well as situation in the occupied territories of Georgia have also been discussed, according to the Administration of the President of Georgia.
“Conversation has touched upon those concrete steps that are being taken in terms of the European integration; also, expectations in Georgia’s political spectrum and society.
As highlighted, it is important to maintain and further advance dynamics of the European integration process,” Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze said.
At the meeting, special attention was paid to the regional security and Georgia’s role in ensuring common European security.
The meeting has also been attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Mr. Mikheil Janelidze, Head of Administration of the President Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili, Secretary of National Security Council of Georgia Mr. Davit Rakviashvili, Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze, and ambassadors of Georgia to Poland and Sweden.
