President Margvelashvili Meets with President Duda

The FINANCIAL — As a part of his working visit to the Republic of Poland, the President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held a meeting with the President of the Republic of Poland, H.E. Andrzej Duda.

Georgian delegation, attending the meeting include the Head of the Administration of the President Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili, Secretary of the National Security Council Mr. Davit Rakviashvili, Advisor of the President for Foreign Affairs Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze, Political Secretary of the President Ms. Pikria Chikhradze, Parliamentary Secretary of the President Ms. Ana Dolidze and the Ambassador of Georgia to Poland Mr. Ilia Darchiashvili.

The parties have highlighted the importance of the joint Declaration signed on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Poland. The two presidents have also discussed the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia. President Margvelashvili has once again thanked his counterpart for his unwavering support of Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, non-recognition policy of the occupied territories and European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. 

The conversation also touched upon the importance of learning from Poland’s wide experience in terms of European and Euro-Atlantic integration and Poland’s support of Georgia in this process.

The President of Georgia has also drawn attention to the Eastern Partnership cooperation, according to the Administration of the President of Georgia.

He has underlined the significance of NATO’s open-door policy and assessed the importance of the NATO Summit of 2018 in further advancing Georgia’s NATO integration. The parties have also emphasized the significance of regional cooperation within the Visegrad Group format and spoken about the prospects of expanding partnership between the Visegrad Group and the Black Sea region.

President Margvelashvili and President Duda have discussed the prospects of strengthening economic cooperation to fully use the potential of both countries. 

“During President Duda’s visit to Georgia, the two presidents have agreed on the advancement of Georgia-Poland relations to a strategic partnership.  At today’s meeting, the parties have discussed the existing mediums for this cooperation. President Duda is one of the most active supporters of Georgia’s integration into Euro and Euro-Atlantic structures; he promised President Margvelashvili to try his best in advancing Georgia’s issue in the upcoming Brussels Summit,” said Mr. Rakviashvili.
