The FINANCIAL — At the initiative of and financed by ProCredit Bank, a small public garden has been created in the village Disveli, located in the Bolnisi region. Employees of ProCredit Bank from Marneuli Branch and from the marketing department took part in the planting of trees.
It should be mentioned that no similar public garden has ever existed in the village. Up to 40 different species have been planted in the new public garden, including silver pine, willow, lilac, Caucasian fir, etc. A beautiful rose avenue has also been laid out, which will become a pleasant, shady recreational area for the village. “This is an important day for our small village. It’s a great feeling to know that children will have a beautiful garden next to their school, where they will be able to spend time playing or reading books”- said one of the inhabitants of the village.
Over the years, as part of an on-going project aimed at increasing staff and public awareness of environmental issues and the rational use of natural resources, many environmental projects have been implemented by ProCredit Bank: cleaning and beautifying public gardens and planting trees, as well as introducing new “Eco loans” and holding many informational evenings. Moreover, ProCredit Bank has been co-operating with the Agency for Protected Areas and the Caucasus Nature Fund for three years and has supported the implementation of several projects in the protected areas. In addition to providing financial support, ProCredit Bank has initiated and implemented a range of environmental activities in the Lagodekhi Reserve.
Supporting economic development that is as environmentally and socially sustainable as possible is a central component of PCB’s development mission. In the Georgian banking market, only ProCredit Bank has an Environmental Management Unit, which is responsible not only for development and implementation of the bank’s internal environmental management system but also sets standards for the disbursement of “Eco Loans” and is involved in the financing and support of energy-efficient projects.
As a socially responsible institution, ProCredit Bank believes that it is important to contribute to the protection and preservation of the environment for future generations. Therefore, the bank will continue to invest resources and effort in realising environmental projects, both its own and those of its clients.
