The FINANCIAL — The electronic procurement system “United Nations Global Marketplace” can become a significant additional market for Ukrainian grain exporters, declared Alexander Kapustin, Alternate Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the World Food Programme (WFP), within his report on improving access of the Ukrainian food suppliers to the international markets through humanitarian projects of the UN, during the international conference “Grain Forum & Maritime Days -2015” on May 28.
The procurement system of the United Nations “Global Marketplace” is a combined portal for realization of procurement activity for all 26 international UN agencies. The annual turnover of goods and services in the system totals more than 16 bln USD. The UN Global Marketplace provides realization of 99% of all orders for needs of the UN organizations and its international humanitarian projects, said the expert, according to APK Inform.
According to him, procurements by the FAO, WFP, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) are the most interesting for Ukrainian grain exporters.
A.Kapustin informed that goods suppliers from the developing countries and countries with transition economies, have more advantages in the procurement system. Working with the WFP and other UN agencies guarantees reliability, high volumes of orders, prestige of participating as the supplier for international humanitarian operations, experience of work based on the best cases of international food trade, as well as expanding of its presence on the global food market.
